Why is scalp care important?

Scalp care is an essential part of hair care that involves taking care of the skin on the head, which is the root of hair growth. When you take care of the scalp, you’re taking care of the source of your hair, paving the way for healthier strands.

Are JooY products tested on animals?

No. All JooY products are not and will never be tested on animals. We do not conduct any testing of ingredients or products on animals. In addition, our products do not contain any animal ingredients.

Can stress cause scalp problems?

Yes: when a person experiences stress, it triggers the release of hormones like cortisol, which can cause inflammation and disrupt the body's natural balance. This disruption can affect the scalp as well, leading to a range of issues like hair loss, dandruff, itchiness, and even psoriasis. It's important to manage stress levels not only for mental health, but also for the health of your scalp and hair.

Does JooY contain sulfates, silicones, or parabens?

Our scalp care products are formulated without harmful chemicals such as sulfates, parabens, silicones, and synthetic fragrances. We believe in using only the highest quality natural ingredients to provide effective and gentle scalp care that is safe for all hair types.

Is JooY vegan?

While JooY’s formulas are plant-based, they do not currently hold vegan certification.

Are the formulas safe for color-treated hair?

Yes, our formulas are safe for all hair types including colored and chemically treated.

When will I see results after using JooY products?

The length of time it takes to see results after using a new scalp care product can vary depending on several factors, including the product itself, how frequently you use it, and the condition of your scalp. In general, most people should see some results within a few weeks of using a new scalp care product. This may include reduced dandruff or dryness, improved scalp health, and even increased hair growth. However, it is important to note that more significant results may take longer to achieve, and it may take several months of consistent use before you see the full benefits of a new product.

HOW TO

How often should you wash your hair to maintain a healthy scalp?

It depends on your hair type, lifestyle, and personal preference, but it’s generally recommended that you wash your hair every two to three days to maintain a healthy scalp. Those with dry or curly hair may want to wash their hair less frequently to avoid stripping away the natural oils that keep the hair and scalp moisturized.

How can you tell if your scalp is healthy or if you need to take better care of it?

There are several signs that can indicate an unhealthy, unbalanced scalp, including:

  • Visible flakes or dandruff
  • Excessive oiliness or dryness
  • Itching or irritation
  • Redness or inflammation
  • Thin hair that does not grow at a steady pace
  • If you notice any of the above signs, there are steps you can take to improve your scalp health. Some of these include washing your hair regularly with our gentle Clarify Shampoo and Clarify Conditioner, avoiding harsh hair treatments, eating a balanced diet, and reducing stress levels.

Is it true that massaging your scalp can improve hair growth and overall scalp health?

Yes, research shows that this technique can be beneficial. Massaging the scalp increases blood flow to the hair follicles, which can help deliver important nutrients and oxygen to the hair and scalp. This increased blood flow can also stimulate hair growth and reduce hair thinning. For best results, we recommend applying our Scalp Resurfacing Serum and massaging it in with our Scalp Energizing Brush.

Why does Try Before You Buy place an authorization on my credit card?

Similar to a hotel or rental car company, Try Before You Buy authorizes your card to ensure you have the funds available. When you checkout, an authorization for the full amount of your order is placed on your card to reserve funds if you choose to keep your items. An authorization is not the same as a charge in that our systems are strictly ensuring that the card that was provided at checkout is both valid and has the appropriate funds available to cover the cost of any items kept in the future.

I thought Try Before You Buy offered a free trial but I see a charge on my card -- can you help me understand?

Try Before You Buy will not charge you for any items until the end of your trial. We do place an authorization on your card for the total amount of your order. This is how we ensure that funds can be captured for items you keep -- it’s just like a hold that hotels or rideshare apps use, and it helps protect us against fraud. The way authorizations display on your statement varies by bank. Typically, authorizations are labeled as “pending” or they will not have a date associated with the charge, indicating that the charge has not yet been posted.

When will the authorization come off of my card?

Try Before You Buy will charge and close your order after your trial + several days for any returns to process. At that point, the authorization will drop and you’ll be charged for the items you kept. Depending on your bank, it can take up to 24-48 hours for your statement to update.
